Red light cameras coming to Ballard, Fremont

Posted by Geeky Swedes on January 2nd, 2008

The City of Seattle announced today that it’s adding 24 more red light cameras in Seattle (it already has 6), and Ballard and Fremont are on the list. The intersections are: 15th and Market, 15th and 80th, Stone Way and 40th, and Aurora at 85th. (Check out this Google map for all of the locations.) The city said the frequency of red light running drops 50 percent on average when they install the cameras. No specific dates on when the new cameras will be installed — just sometime this year.

Yea, but will it catch all the jack ass bike riders that run red lights!!! Bike riders complain about how cars almost hit them and they have the same rights as cars...blah blah blah...but then they weave in and out of traffic… and my favorite…. run red lights!!. I have almost hit a couple bike riders because of this. I know not all bikers act like this… but a lot do. I'm a bike rider too and I always stop… but there’s always some one who flies by me while I'm waiting for the light…so sad. Share the road…maybe bikes should have big car license plates too…that way the camera will catch them breaking the law. My 2 cent.
