Follow the signs at the Locks

Posted by Dale on February 16th, 2008

They’ve updated the interpretive signage explaining the workings of the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and the salmon ladder. I’m a bit behind on this since they did it a little over a month ago – it’s been a while since my bike commute crossed the Locks. (Speaking of, there’s also new signs warning cyclists to walk their bikes or risk being ticketed).

My 2-year-old son will positively FREAK when he sees the larger-than-life salmon sign at the north entrance. It explains that the bronze icons in the pavement lead the way to the fish ladder. And yes, my boy is a total Seattleite — he already recognizes the difference between salmon and other fish. Seriously.
