Ballard Mandarin restaurant now open

Posted by Geeky Swedes on March 14th, 2008

After a couple months of preparations, the Ballard Mandarin Chinese restaurant has opened at the corner of Market and 8th Ave. “I ate there last night,” James told My Ballard. “(It) will take a while to work through the expansive menu, but they pulled it off fairly well. Not easy the first week or so in a new kitchen to get everything up and running smoothly. I was pleasantly surprised.” Let us know your impressions if you give the new restaurant a try…

I have never been disappointed by a dish at Ballard Mandarin. The egg foo young is the best anywhere with a light sauce and fresh ingredients. They get better everytime we go there.

Just back from dinner there with group of ten. Waitress was pushy and rushed--although not many customers. No liquor license, so no ice-cold beer. Food was your average "Chinese food" (Americanized). General Tao's Chicken dry and hard. Garlic prawns virtually w/o garlic. Soup bland (both egg drop and won ton). No one in the group seemed eager to go there again. Sorry!!

Had the pan fried noodles, mu shu pork, and a veggie dish... I thought the food was well prepared, fresh and tasty. Also the wait staff was fast and friendly.

Great food, fast and courteous. Large portions and well within average price range! I'll go back for sure.

Yeah im excited to try it because my family used to go to Inn Bin every Friday. If anyone knows what happened to Inn Bin please let me know my family and i have been concerned if the family is ok

I too have wondered about the family who ran the Inn Bin, english names: Craig, Mae, children Matthew and Michelle. I do so miss traditions. If you know anything about them or if Craig is working somewhere else, I'd appreciate you letting me know. Thank you

wow...what a disappointment. they aren't ready to be open...couldn't get to our table in 15 minutes and there was no one in the restaurant...it'll be a long time before I give them another chance.

I would like to hear how it compares to the old Inn Bin if anyone has been to both.
