Crazy honkin’ bands in Ballard

Posted by Geeky Swedes on March 21st, 2008

It’s called Honk Fest West, a “radical marching band festival” that promises to overflow the streets of Ballard tonight and this weekend with “the lively sound of horn players and drummers.” Bands have come in from five states and Canada for the event. Ballard’s Connor Byrne’s Pub, Mr. Spots Chai House, New York Fashion Academy and Ballard Jam House are hosting bands Friday night (schedule). And on Sunday, you’ll see “open jam” processions at Ballard Commons Park (across from the library) as well as Bergen Place (site of the pillow fight) from 12-3 p.m. Don’t say we didn’t warn ya!

I live up near 65th & 32nd, and I could hear them last night! Glad I don't live closer...

Interesting that there was fru-fra about a few feathers, but noise polution does not seem to be a problem. Maybe because there is no clean up following. Or is there?!

I've lived on Ballard Ave for 5 years. I've seen, heard and put up with just about everything and I wouldn't trade living here for the world but this is the WORST! I knew this was coming but I really didn't expect what is now almost FOUR hours of pounding. Eh, not much I can do except hope that it is at least done by 2am. . .
