Zagi’s Pizza closes its doors

Posted by Geeky Swedes on April 14th, 2008

We received an email tip from Thomas who is a business neighbor to Zagi’s Pizza. He tells us that a new note was posted on the door last night saying that Zagi’s is closed for good. Just last week we reported that they were in sunny Florida and back in February the note read that they were hitting some music fests and would return in April.

Update: Yep, a “For Rent” sign is in the window.

    Soprano's isn't on 15th - it's on 24th - it's got good pizza, a little greasy for my taste, but definetly good.

Snoose Junction wasn't very impressive when they first opened, but I have to admit in the last year they've really improved and I enjoy the fact they sell it by the slice.

Southern Bar-B-Q coming soon to the old ZAGi's spot...yum
  • James
big fan of Snoose Junction Pizza as well. I think they might be opening up a new location
  • Please !!!! may the owners of the Ocho tapas bar take Zagi's spot at 24th and 80th.
  • piogga
Paradise Pizza is better than the Dominos it replaced, but nothing to write home about...

Re Zayda's haven't tried the pizza but the tater-tot casserole rocks & the cocktails are good...
  • Is it just me or is Palermo's just a re-branded Romio's? They have nearly identical menus and food. Plus, the pizza tastes the same. Anyone know the back story on that place?

Mad Pizza has sauce to die for...

    Nooooooooooooooo!!!!

We have had Stacia's Pizza a bunch of times and admittedly, it's really good.

It's no Zagi's, of course, but it's good.

    Sad news!
  • Dale
There's actually a couple Tutta Bella's closer than that - one in Wallingford on Stone Way at 44th and another that just opened in South Lake Union at Westlake and Denny Way above the Whole Foods.
Anyone had Stacia's Pizza lately? How about Paradise Pizza across from Le Gourmand?
  • Plaidass
Ever since 2nd Ave Pizza closed, Seattle has been lacking in decent pizza. Crash Landing is the next best thing and after that you have to drive to Columbia City for Tutta Bella.
  • Ryan
Crash Landing is good, but they don't deliver.

Snoose Junction has a very light crust, but good pizza. Delivered by bicycle.

Palermo has a good pizza with a nice, chewy crust. Quick delivery, and also nice fresh pasta. The carbonara rocks.

Zagi's was good, and will be missed.

Crash Landing on 65th makes a pretty decent thin crust and serves slices. They don't have the "hipster factor" or crowds of Snoose either. They have been keeping me from freaking out without my Zagi's fix.
  • I've gotta second Snoose Junction. Good pizza, and great atmosphere. We have also enjoyed Soprano's on 15th a lot. Fun, warm atmosphere and very good pizza.

(As an NY-area transplant, I reserve the great pizza designation for truly remarkable thin-crust pizza. But I'm happy to take the pizza for what it is in Seattle)
  • Sara
@ John Eddy - Palermo is okay but it's expensive. It's, like, gourmet pizza.
  • Elle
this sucks. i am so f'n bummed about this.

zayda buddies pizza sucks and so does the service.

    total bummer.

    John Eddy -

Gotta be honest here and say that Zayda's pizza isn't worth writing home about....
  • Judy
What a great way to continue to have a unique neighborhood and at the same time keep the "familiar" with us.
  • Thomas
Must throw my .02 in and say that Snoose Junction is awesome pizza. They have really stepped up their game over the last year - their pizza sauce has really improved to the point where it is great. Also, their tables are the old lanes from Lelani - so I guess these are the only lanes in Ballard.

Having lived directly next door to Zagi's for over a year and a half, the news comes both as no surprise and a real blow to the neighboorhood. Dammit. Oh, well, what do you expect from a hippy?
  • vida
    Snooze Junction has great pizza!!
  • ivy
Veraci is supposed to be opening a permanent location soon in Ballard...not sure where.
  • NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

    DAMMIT!

Now the only good Ballard pizza is Veraci on Sundays????? (Well, ok, Madame K's is good, but, not the same value as two slices from Zagi's)

How's the pizza at Zadya's? Or Palermo?
  • Noooooo!
  • paul
Why am I not at all surprised?

Never understood why Zagi's owner had not heard of hiring employees...
  • Ryan
Zagi's didn't even give me a chance. Too bad, always looking for good pizza.
