Auction at Sunset Bowl today

Posted by Geeky Swedes on April 22nd, 2008

Update: We just returned from the auction preview at Sunset Bowl, and the parking lot is already packed. The auction (details) is expected to last well into the afternoon, with some of the more interesting items (bowling pins, for example) scheduled to come up around noon or later.

Notice that the bowling pins come in large lots. Same for the bowling balls.

The computer displays, monitors and blue chairs are for sale, too.

Even the lanes and gutters are up for auction.

The best pick that I could see: this cool Sunset Bowl welcome rug, which will almost certainly draw a high bid.

Hmmmm....looks like great hard wood floors for a condos that will go up.

The most interesting part of the auction was giving yourself a full tour of the facility. That being said, there was very little there unique to Sunset Lanes. The rug may have been the only thing with a logo.

Agreed -- any new lanes would be owned by Avalon.

The "they" that would build new lanes is different than the "they" selling the items.

If Avalon did decide to follow through on the new lanes, I'm sure they'd be decidedly more upscale than the Sunset.
  • Sorry, "Lanes"
  • When they rebuilt Richmond Beach Laned (granted a stand alone establishment) they replaced everything inside. They may just want an outside investor to come in and put in a new bowling alley, rather than be involved themselves.

IF they were honest about rebuilding a bowling alley, they wouldn't be selling this stuff.

If anyone manages to get some of the maple lane wood and can spare some, let me know!!! I am a student and can't afford the entire lane but just want to make a small tabletop.

too bad you can't buy just one bowling pin. Who needs boxes full of them? Bummer.
