I don't know what is up with this place. We went on Saturday, on the (very) early side - 5:30pm. The patio was full but it was not crowded or what I would characterize as overwhelmingly busy. We sat down in a booth. For 10 minutes, not only did no one come over with menus, no one on the wait staff even made eye contact. So we left. Lame.

An update to my earlier post. I called them to give a little "customer feedback." The manager was super apologetic and offered to send me a gift certificate to entice my to try it again, which I will.

We ate here tonight with our two children and had a great experience. The waitress was very accomodating to the kids and brought them a bucket of toys and colors. Food was hot and good. Definitely would come back again.

I'm not big on the sportsbar thing but heard good about this place so tried it. I'm a fan! Great affordable food, good service (give 'em another chance Sara) - and not so sportsbar that I felt like slapping someone. I've recommended this place a few times.

We've been here a few times and the service seems to be getting worse. The last time we went it took 25 minutes for us to receive our first drink and there was customers on maybe 3 other tables. The waitress was totally miserable. She brought out the wrong dish and I had to go into the bar to track her down to return it. There was no apology. Our second drinks never turned up. Overall one of the worst service experiences I have had in Seattle. It's a shame because they have a great location, nice outdoor space and decent bar food.

They serve food here? I'll be damned.

The big window with a grill, oven, and 2 dudes cooking food are evidence that there is a kitchen... C'mon Fargo!

This place had decent bar food. I could do without the "better than you" attitudes from the bartenders and waitstaff. Get rid of the trust-fund/lazy hipster waitstaff and the place would do well.

this place is what it is. its a sports bar trying to be hip and cash in on the friday/saturday night ballard ave B&T crowd. that being said, the food ain't bad but the beer selection is.
  • Chip
Hey Bum... What is your ideal selection? I actually think they have a pretty good selection.
  • luzma
I agree that the bartenders and wait staff think they are better than their patrons. Beer selection sucks but their wings are pretty darn good.

Best wait staff by far of any of the restaurants in Ballard! Wednesday is the best night to go, 1/2 off all speciality drinks and wine all night! The Happy Hour is amazing as well, you must try the Lil' Montanas and the Black and Tan Onion Rings! You are likely to find my room mate and I there every Wednesday night drinking Scandinavian Pops.

I enjoy this place as long as I avoid Friday and Saturday night. You can play games upstairs, sit and talk downstairs and watch the game anywhere in the bar. The food is good (not great) and best bought during happy hour. I have found most of the staff very friendly. There was one incident where I talked my friends into going there and got the worst service EVER!! It was embarrassing. But...that is just one dark haired waitress (who unforunately works alot). I avoid her when ever possible or just go to the bar if she is covering my area (usually upstairs).

I'm not sure what people are talking about rude staff. They have been nice to me each time I've been in. Yes it gets busy on a Fri/Sat but expect it and just go to the bar to get a drink. Ballard is the new hot spot and it is just plain busy anywhere you go. I've been happy everytime I get food here...from the Greek salad to the black and blue sliders, it's all been delicious.

I've been to the Loft at night and have had a good time. A friend and I decided to stop by for an early afternoon drink on Memorial Day. The service was horrible. It took forever to even get a menu. I dont know why we decided to stick around, but the food was decent. Better service would have made for a much more enjoyable experience. I hope the people at the Ballard Loft are reading these comments!

terrible. the owners are frat boys that are in for the beer and chicks..thats cool...if you are and they are not. the service is overwhelmed and slow and the food is average at best.

"M" is a 100% LIAR . Maybe if "M" wasn't so prejudice about people, "M" would learn more about people and have more friends. I happen to know these guys and a women (a wife of one), and they never even went to a college let alone were involved with a fraternity. They have only worked in the Bar industry for a number of years and are in business because thats what they do, for a living. Maybe if you were a more open minded individual they would be your friend too. Then again they may not be your type, seeing as they make a lot of friends, from all different backgrounds, and you don't have to pass a test based on initial looks and un educated assumptions to be their friend. Nice attempt at a helpful review you provided though. The Loft happens to have a great mix of people of all ages whenever I go in. That probably expains your distaste for the Loft. Also, give me a break, their food is way above average. Quit being a Hater "M".

I think this place is awesome. I now have a renewed love for hot dogs! Plus the patio is a fantastic place to get some sun on my pasty-white Seattle skin and drink sangria. Bueno!

The smokers need to be dealt with.

I like the place, a great atmosphere, close to the house, good specials. The problem is that the best part of the place is the outdoor seating, and it's always overwhelmed by clouds of smoke from the jackasses smoking right over the rail close to the patio so they can still see the TVs.

It's obnoxious and until the place cracks down on it I'm not going back.

I ate here once and found the food and service slightly below average, so I haven't been back. I think a review upon just one visit wouldn't be fair - BUT

... I still have to go past on my way home and I just can't stand the vibe of this place now. I know their clientele like the music on the loud side but WOW.I WHY does this business have to blare it so it infects the other unique and historic atmosphere of this special block?? It's not very neighborly. Sorry Loft.
