Zillow home values hold in North Seattle

Posted by Geeky Swedes on May 6th, 2008

The real estate site Zillow released a map today that shows the changes in home values (as calculated by Zillow) over the last year.

If I’m reading the map correctly, most of Ballard, Phinney and Fremont are down 1-3%, yet Sunset Hill is down 1% or less. As far as the Seattle metro area goes, North Seattle has held its value like few other neighborhoods.

For kicks, compare it to Los Angeles, for example, where the “best” areas dropped 11% or less. Or better yet, check out Stockton, CA, where the best neighborhoods dropped 28% or less. Wow.

Hmmmmm, something tells me some people will think this is bad news.

So, instead of selling at lower prices, people are holding out for what they paid. (It's been in the papers.) I wonder how long they'll be able to do that. Caw!

    The sale is just starting...

When houses in our little area go on the market there is generally a sold sign up within two weeks. I'd say Ballard is still doing really well.
  • It's a super tough market. We getting a lot of people looking but nobody is buying. It's time to get a second job!
