No more nude swimming in Ballard?

Posted by Geeky Swedes on May 12th, 2008

Every month for the last 6 months, a group of 30-70 nudists have taken to the Ballard Pool for a night of naked swimming. It wasn’t a problem until the pool manager recently revealed that lifeguards must be at least 21 years old, not 18, and of course there aren’t many 21-or-over lifeguards. Apparently this isn’t a new rule, just recently discovered. The nudists aren’t buying it. They tell the PI that they believe this “rule change” is to limit the number of nude swims. “(The lifeguards) are legal adults,” says one of the nudists. “They have the option of not working these events if they aren’t comfortable.”

i like go down to waikiki an cruz near topless beaches, girls nipples get hard when they cum out of the water

I believe nude swimming is a beautiful, wonderful, healthy experience. I urge all ages and both genders to try it.

"I do not like green eggs and ham."

I think if more people tried nudism they would enjoy it also.

    I'm bummed to read that Su-ii is a breeder. . .
was hoping he was a one off-er
  • Suthii
"they’re probably a lot less hung up than the rest of us."

Hung up? More like hanging down....probably dragging along the pavement. Nut tucks might help.
  • Silver
Suthii will be even unhappier as a flabby old person than he is as a 30-something adolescent.

Congratulations to anyone who is comfortable enough with their body to be a nudist. They're probably a lot less hung up than the rest of us.

"I read the article and saw nothing about these (admittedly odd) people wanting to flash children."

Well if they use the pool to swing their nuts during public hours, it means my kids will be forced to look at their twigs and berries. That may well be the purpose for a few of the geezers.

But again, I have no problem, let them do it, but let those of us who know to wear our clothes in public come and videotape the show to put on Youtube for all to enjoy.

Just a couple of tips for the camera:

Gentlemen: if you nuts hang lower than the Bells of St. Mary's, tape 'em up.

Ladies: Be good Ballard gardeners and trim those hedges and unruly bushes.

"wave their jiggly bits at the kiddies during pool hours"....

I read the article and saw nothing about these (admittedly odd) people wanting to flash children. Is it me or am I missi - Oh! Hey Suthii....how's it trolling? Glad you could contribute some well needed bile to the conversation.
  • Judy
My question: Is this a dying activity? It seems that attrition might eliminate the event - are there any "younger" to "young" participants? If not, in time we will not have to worry about naked bodies on the rope swing!
  • Suthii
"it’s still acceptable to make fun of fat people so…."

Ahem, that's 'differently sized' people, thank you.
  • Suthii
    "What does this accomplish?"

Well, the humor value would be priceless and if these fine folks want to wave their jiggly bits at the kiddies during pool hours, wouldn't they also love to have everyone see them in their birthday suits on Youtube?

Or maybe just set up a webcam for the weekly Big Flash?
  • m
wow Suthii - pretty judgemental re: others' bodies. Hope that 2 year old doesn't grown up to suffer anorexia or bulimia.

But then again, it's still acceptable to make fun of fat people so....
  • Rudy
Suthii "let them do it, but let us come video tape it, post their jiggling, flabby parts on Youtube and let the world rate them."
What does this accomplish? Let the world rate them? If a group of peeps wants to swim nude who cares? I say leave them be.
  • Suthii
"In many parts of the world there are nude beaches, nude baths etc."

Well sadly, Ballard is not the south of France where one can enjoy the eye candy and not be forced to giggle at the jiggle.
  • Come on guys, keep in civil. Those kind of comments, mocking people's bodies, are out of line and, I would imagine, exactly the kind of hangups those into a nudist lifestyle are trying to confront and breakdown. I don't happen to think my ballardite bod is as hot as it once was but it is the only one I have and I am not embarrassed of it. That being said, the public nudity thing is not my preference but I am not going to judge others who want to take a swim in the buff.

BTW I would suggest that just because you teach your kid that nudity is bad, and even if most American's don't like public nudity and place legal restrictions on it, doesn't mean that it is universally "inppropriate." In many parts of the world there are nude beaches, nude baths etc. They are not orgies. I also happen to use saunas, gym showers and locker rooms where there are naked people. I don't really see a significant difference between a consensual naked swim and people using common gym or bath facilities.

"It’s been my experience that most people look better naked than clothed"

Hmmmm yes, that all I dream about while I see the thundering herds waddling down Market Street. I think, my, how I'd love to see them naked.

How come my 2 year old knows it's inappropriate to go outside without pants, but some adults here haven't even learned this basic rule of life? Seriously, there's only a few basic rules in life that you need to get along with others and wearing your pants when you go out the door is pretty much at the top of the list.

Again, though, I say go for it, just let me videotape it for Youtube so we can show Ballard's whitest and flabbiest in their birthday suits for the whole world to see and judge.

So if you want to dangle your tickle tackle in front of the kiddies at the pool that's fine, just let me share the moment with the world.

I resent that Suthii, I may be carrying a few pounds more I used to but I'm hardly fat and/or ugly. Have you seen the movie Supersize Me? There's plenty of fat/ugly in the U.S. naked or not. It's been my experience that most people look better naked than clothed, especially when wearing ill-fitting wet clingy swimsuits.
  • Suthii
The libertarian in me says, 'hey, let it all hang out!'

The good taste in me asks, 'why do only fat, ugly people want to do this?'

So I say split the difference: let them do it, but let us come video tape it, post their jiggling, flabby parts on Youtube and let the world rate them.
  • Rudy
    @ Joe... totally.
  • Joe
I love how satire doesn't translate well in comments.
  • evan
Uh, Matt, last time I took a swim I was wet on top of AND underneath my bathing suit. I think that's what chlorine is for.

As for me - I say go for it. And the 18 and up rule sounds like a bunch of BS to me.
  • Matt
Yeah Jasmine, nudist swimmers are just gross. There's no way that people's genitals would come in contact with the water in the pool if they were wearing bathing suits.
  • Jasmine
Gooner -- my thoughts exactly. It's not as if people audition to be a nudist.

Does the thought of naked people using the pool gross anyone else out?
  • gooner
Elttaes... have you seen the type of people that like to do the nude thing? i bet they have had none.
  • mary
So the lifeguards must be 21 or over - but they can buy porn at 18? What am I missing here?
  • Elttaes
Wonder how many resumes they have recieved so far.
  • Scotty
Ew. They use the rope swing.... naked...
