The same company that bought Sunset Bowl here in Ballard has purchased the Mountaineers’ headquarters in Lower Queen Anne. Avalon Bay will soon demolish the building for luxury apartments. For long-time residents, you may remember it used to be the Norway Center. “In a past life it hosted the king of Norway and countless lutefisk-and-meatball dinners,” reports the Seattle Times. In 1983, the Sons of Norway sold the building to the Mountaineers and built a new home right here in Ballard.
