Mayor paves way for more sidewalk seating

June 25th, 2008 · 5 Comments

For restaurants like Ocho that are applying for a sidewalk seating permit, it costs $2,300 and requires several months of processing time. But now Mayor Greg Nickels wants to reduce the cost to $600 with a quick, ten-day turnaround. If the mayor’s proposal is approved by the city council, we’ll be seeing lots more sidewalk cafes in the near future.

As long as restaurants don’t block the sidewalk for passing pedestrians I think this is a great idea.

This is good! Who doesn’t like to eat and drink outside on a nice day?? Now, the city council has to do their part and get this approved.

Great! It’s getting more and more like San Fran around here.

This will be great. I wonder how sidewalk seating on the NW corner of 15th and Market would go over?
