Car crashes into Phinney yard

Quite the scene this morning on Phinney Ridge when this black Toyota Corolla jumped the curb, knocked over a street sign and ended up in someone’s yard. It happened at 10:30 a.m. on Fremont Ave. N. near 67th St. A neighbor said she heard several loud crashes like the Corolla had hit several cars on the street. No word on the driver’s condition. (Thanks for the picture, Amy!)

The new Seattle 911 Blog on the P-I website was the only place this was reported the day it happened. The driver was a 75 year old lady who apparently had a "Miss Daisy" moment. Thankfully no one was hurt and she walked away from the accident just dazed and confused. (Well, not AWAY away... SFD responded with over a dozen engines, ladder trucks, chiefs, Medic Units and Rescue units.)

Biff, is that an outdated, piggish comment or did you read somewhere that it was a woman driver? 'Cause you know, insurance rates for young men are much higher than for young women for a reason.

I apologize in advance if I misunderstood your comment.

Women drivers can be so funny.

The place looked familiar, so I went to check it out last night. It's my grandparents' old house.

Oh my goodness!!! I hope the driver is alright and I'm glad no pedestrians or bicyclists were hurt!!!

JM - it'll be interesting to see what caused the driver to end up like that!

Let's see... maybe they were making a U-turn while talking on the cell phone?

What is it with these drivers in this neighborhood who keep running off the streets into people's yards? Be careful you guys!

Keep them away from the Greenwood car show this weekend!
