Robin Williams movie filming in area

Posted by Geeky Swedes on July 17th, 2008

A Robin Williams movie called “World’s Greatest Dad” will be in production in the Wallingford area over the next three weeks, reports the Seattle PI. But a tipster tells us that film crews are also expected to shoot in Sunset Hill, somewhere near 64th St. between 32nd and 36th Ave. No specific details, so if you know more, please post in comments…

"The comedy chronicles the father's attempt to spare his son and himself the humiliation by writing a fake suicide note."

A comedy about suicide in Seattle? Now that's not very funny.
  • evan
Actually, it may be that you're not very funny Suthii.

Are they going to use the Aurora Bridge in the movie?
  • Sarah E
Quite the contrary, evan...Suthii IS quite funny. You guys just don't "get" him.

    Back on topic, however...
I can't get too excited about movie stars coming to town, but Mork is welcome in our neck of the woods anytime. Nanu-Nanu!

Robin's birthday is the 21st of July. He will be 57.
  • Yeah, Sarah- you're right. There is a place for a good quip now and again from the suth-y I suppose.
  • My buddy said they were shooting at Mona's on Latona.

I live in Wallinford and there's been a bunch of filming activity at the F. A. MacDonald school on Latona & 55th. I didn't know what it was for and didn't think much of it. Kinda neat.

If you want to engage in a little amateur stalking, the production office for the film appears to be in the lower level (fountain, wall of red doors) of City Hall.

Spotted on Sunday: Robin Williams enjoying a day off from shooting at the Seattle Art Museum and Cafe.

I agree the plot doesn't sound that great.

My friends daughter is an extra in the movie, she films her "part" today.

They were filming here in Lake Forest Park Towne Center and Third Place Books where they filmed a scene of him doing a book signing at Third Place (he apparently becomes an author in the movie) and the other scene was he and his character's son, having lunch in the mall area, having an argument. Guess it was a really neat thing for the locals to sit and watch. Robin Williams was very pleasant and very willing to have his photo taken with the local business owners. Rumor is that the next filming takes place at a local golf course.....and they are staying at a hotel on 1st Avenue downtown Seattle.

Another amateur stalking opportunity: While walking the dog last night, ran into a bunch of trailers/trucks/temporary no parking signs in Olympic Manor, in Crown Hill--this is around 92nd & 17th, down a dead end. A couple guys hauling lighting gear told me it was a "real live motion picture" set up. Think it's this movie, or a new one?
