Via Tribunali opening soon in Fremont

Posted by Geeky Swedes on August 14th, 2008

The popular pizzeria Via Tribunali on Capitol Hill and Queen Anne will soon open a Fremont restaurant, according to a liquor license posted outside an empty space along Fremont Ave. N. at 43rd, right next to Cafe Vita. It will also be next door to Rialto, a new Italian restaurant.

Via Tribunali specializes in wood-fired, Neapolitan-style pizza. We’ve eaten at the Capitol Hill location a couple times, and the pizza is excellent.

Mmm...I've tried Varaci's pizza at the Farmer's Market on Sundays and it's delish!

Didn't applebees go under? Oh wait, that's Bennegans... or one of those...

Don't say it Puggles. Applebees has no business in Ballard.

I'm tired of this trendy crap - bring on the applebee's :-)

Veraci Pizza, a past winner of a Mayor's Small Business Award, is also building a "brick and mortar" restaurant in East Ballard. They are Seattle's original, award-winning traveling wood-fired pizza company. Soon, Ballardians can eat their fare any day of the week at this family pizzeria. The owners are busy remodeling a former Domino's Pizza location and making it their own. A lovely olive paint color and great graphics indicate that this will be both a pleasure to the eye and to the palate. Check out their progress at 500 NW Market Street, just across the corner from that other spectacular East Ballard restaurant, Le Gourmand. Can't wait to dine Neapolitan style!
  • That's good to hear.

The Via Tribunali on Upper Queen Anne is delicious too. My wife and I went there on a whim one Friday night off a recommendation from a friend.

We got there around 8:30 and the place was sparse. I called ahead and the guy said, "Not even close." After I asked him if it was busy there.

Turns out that around 9:30 - 10 p.m. is when the place gets lively. We chatted with an older couple next to us for a bit.

The whole restaurant was inviting. We'll definitely check it out again. Via Tribunali is a completely opposite experience at Tutta Bella. Their pizza is good and the atmosphere is lively by the decor and the clientele are much different.

I think there's one of these in Georgetown as well, right across the street from All City Coffee. They don't have a sign up yet, but they were open for lunch yesterday.

Hooray! Finally, people north of the ship canal can have a pizza place of their very own!
