Thaiku closed for the week

Posted by Geeky Swedes on August 28th, 2008

Brown paper covers the windows at Thaiku and CaffinatorX asks in the forum, “what’s up with that?” Turns out they’re just closed for the week. A sign on the door says the popular Thai restaurant is closed so they can refinish the floors and remodel the kitchen. They plan to re-open after Labor Day on Sept. 2nd.

Hopefully it's just a remodel because when Baskin-Robbins on 15th closed for "remodeling" years ago it reopened as a Taco del Mar. I guess it had some sort of identity crisis and preferred a lifestyle of tortillas and beans rather than cones and cream.

I foresee Thaiku being a fixture on Ballard Ave for many years to come. It's one of my favorite restaurants in Ballard.
