‘Ballard for Obama’ T-shirts for sale

Posted by Geeky Swedes on September 4th, 2008

There are certainly plenty of Obama supporters in Ballard, and Epilogue Books on Market St. has distributed lots of Obama gear over the last few months. But now the bookstore has a new addition:

The T-shirts cost $14.95, and Nathan (modeling the shirt) at Epilogue tells us they’re even getting international buyers, from Norway, China and Australia, to name a few. And in true Ballard fashion, the bumper stickers are coming soon. Of course, if someone knows of a “Ballard for McCain” T-shirt somewhere, we’ll be happy to post it for equal time. (Story idea from Mohini, who posted a photo in the Ballard Flickr pool. Check out her very cool food blog right here.)

Thanks! I am glad you found the shirts. Did you guys know about buttons 4 obama ? They are local and they hold button making parties...Hey! we could use a Ballard 4 Obama button, too :)
  • Ben
How about a "Ballard for a Constitutional USA" shirt?
  • Ben
I would buy that in a heartbeat.
  • I recently bought one for my 90 year old grandmother. She lives in California and was thrilled when it arrived in the mail. In return, she sent me her "Sons of Norway" membership lapel pin. Gotta love my sharp, smart and liberal Grandma!
  • T
    I'm sorry! No Thanks!!
  • pioggia
    Go Grandma!

you can just feel this thread about to politically explode. obama vs palin is going to be a hotly contested race.
  • Josh
You guys realize it makes him look like the devil. Not the best design.

Vote Obama or we lose our democracy.
  • Ballardog
Seriously, Ballard for Palin might be more appropriate when you think about her background.

Also, you could market the Obama shirt to either party, just make one without the inscription as well! LOL.
  • T
Yah!! Vote for Obama!! For higher gas tax, and taxes in general. gregoires best friend!
  • Josh

Funny how the same old party-line stereotypes are hauled out, in spite of reality.
  • patyh
something tells me this is going to be a veeeeerry looonngg discussion thread....wasn't this all about a t-shirt? don't like it, don't buy it.
  • gooner
josh, why would i read his tax policy when i can listen to palin. she said he was going to raise my taxes so i believe it. reading and thinking for myself would be a waste of time.
  • suthii
'Ballard for Palin' is more appropriate considering her background as at red neck who thinks the world is 5000 years old? How does that make her relevant to Ballard......hang on, don't answer that.
  • Ballardog
Don't take it personally suthii, just trying to point out Ballard's history as a commercial fishing town with strong ties to Alaska. Obviously times have changed, if you're talking about political idealogies Obama would be more appropriate for Ballard. Personally I'm not voting for either one of 'em. Both are more of the same if you ask me, just different special interest groups. Cheers.
  • Josh
"Both are more of the same if you ask me, just different special interest groups."

Except McCain won't mind taking more of your rights away.
  • Evan
Hmmm... Ballard for Palin. I don't think so. She is miles away from traditional "hard working" values. More like a fake caricature of a small town american soccer mom - intended to instill sympathy while we overlook her TOTAL unpreparedness for the VP job.

Wake up Ballard! don't be suckered by the image. (that's for you T and BallardDog).
  • Evan
Oh - and I dig the T shirt.
  • I always vote for the guy (or gal) who buys arugula.

Of course as an Anglo Saxon I'm highly offended by this obvious pro-viking, dare I say pro-rape and pillage, imagery. Sensitivity training all around please.
  • suthii
'Ballard for McCain' shirts? Maybe best to ask at the grumpy old folks home on Ballard Ave.
  • Sheila
Are Suthii and suthii the same person?
  • Joel Niemeyer
Probably a cookie or autofill victim. Somtime I am "Joel" sometimes "Joel Niemeyer".
  • Evan
I just read the letter from a longtime aquaintance of Sarah Palin from Alaska, mentioned today on NPR. Pretty eye opening. Check it out at: http://www.thepresidentialcandidates.us/about-s...

Hey GS - how about an official presidential politics string?
  • jm
I am sorry to remind everyone (as if it’s a big secret) that the last 8 years of the magic GOP lower taxes hasn’t helped things very much. Prices for food, gasoline, and diesel fuel are higher than ever. The list of failures is long with big banks folding, millions of home loan foreclosures and thousands of dead soldiers. Want more of that? Go ahead vote for old gramps.
  • pioggia
Back to the Tshirt subject: I was in Clover on Ballard Ave. yesterday and they had super cute "Obama Baby" tshirts for the little ones.
Sadly, since I was shopping for a friend who's more conservative, there were no "Babies for Caribou Barbie" tshirts ;->

Oh but props to jm for pointing out how well GOP control of all three branches of government has worked for our country...
  • Hi, this is Nathan. Wanted to say thanks for posting the picture. I also wanted to let everyone know, we do have Ballard for Obama buttons now as well as regular blue and white buttons. The new order of shirts and bumper stickers should be in this afternoon as well as a new design my brother came up with. Thanks everyone and keep up the fight!
  • Mel
