We’re a little late on this story, but fire crews responded to heavy smoke in the 1100 block of 46th St. just before 8 a.m. My Ballard reader Charles Redell shot this photo all the way from Magnolia.

Turns out it was a paint fire, and the Seattle Fire Department said it was extinguished before they arrived. A TV news helicopter briefly buzzed the scene, which attracted even more attention. (Thanks Charles for the photo!)
