Rockabilly Ball at Tractor Tavern

Posted by Geeky Swedes on September 24th, 2008

The longest-running rockabilly festival in the country, the 21st annual KEXP Rockabilly Ball runs this Thursday through Saturday at the Tractor Tavern. The long lineup of bands includes Slim Sandy, The Royal Deuces, The Black Crabs… and there’s even a car show. More info here.

Here’s the The Mezcal Brothers playing at last year’s ball (courtesy KEXP).

Update: Saturday’s car show won’t be held on Ballard Ave. as previous years, but at the Shanty Tavern on Lake City Way, says Kirsten in comments.

It is lame that The Rooks Car Club can't have it on Ballard Ave any more, I agree. You wanna know why? Because the people who lived there complained about it. We would LOVE to still have it there, but it's not our choice anymore. The city wants some RIDICULOUS amount of money for us to do it there, if I recall correctly.

I like the Manhattans at Hazelwood
  • I guess Ballard Ave is just too fancy for a low-brow car show. Those fools!

I know, and I'll be there. I just think it's lame they don't have it on Ballard Ave any more. I think it's been about 3 or 4 years now...

Always a good time! I wish they still had the hot rod show on Ballard Ave though. I guess it's too low brow for the new and improved Ballard.
