Golden Gardens forms neighborhood group

Posted by Geeky Swedes on October 3rd, 2008

When Golden Gardens Drive washed out last year, neighbors were forced to ditch their cars and walk down to the beach.

It turns out that what could easily be perceived as a negative, the washout actually led to the formation of the Golden Gardens Neighborhood Association. With more neighbors out and about they began talking and realized that their concerns were different than other neighborhoods in the area. “It was something that some of us in the neighborhood had been thinking about for a while,” Mary Tott told the Ballard News Tribune. “We wanted a voice with city government around our concerns.” By the way, the Seattle Department of Transportation hopes to have the road reopened by December.

I agree Hector! I read the Ballard News Tribune article yesterday about this. If possible, this idea would be part of a "part 2" I believe.

Does anyone know if this idea is an actual possibility? And if so, what would help get it in action? Is there someone we could write or call to give our vote about keeping this a ped./bike only road?

i think that since this road has been closed for so long and traffic has adjusted, it should be kept closed to cars and opened as a walking/biking trail.
