Hamburger Harry’s broken into

Posted by Geeky Swedes on October 16th, 2008

My Ballard reader Gooner saw police in front of Hamburger Harry’s as he passed by on the bus this morning. “Two cops had just walked up inspecting a broken window in the front,” he emailed us.

Sure enough, the far window at Hamburger Harry’s has a sheet of black plastic over it. Last night someone broke into the restaurant and stole some alcohol. According to one of the employees, the burglar took open bottles of inexpensive liquor. Nothing else. If you’ve never been in Harry’s, they have valuable sports autographs lining the walls and some pretty nice big screen TV’s. (Thanks Gooner for tipping us on the story!)

KISS Cafe was broken into the same night. They took a six-pack of crappy beer and dropped one on the way out.

"they took computers and electronics and it was during the day! "

No suprise. Most home burglaries occur during the day because that's when people are at work and homes are empty. My old man was a burglary detective and day shifts always took way more residential reports than the night shift. Businesses get hit at night.

BTW, if own a garage with a garage door opener be sure to put a deadbolt lock on the door leading from the garage to your home. Popular tactic is for burglars to get a replacement garage door opener and drive down the street pressing the button until a door opens. They then pull into the garage, close the door, and spend hours looting the home with nobody knowing about it.
  • "I’ve seen the bunch that you are referring to. Do you think they have the skills and initiative to break a window?"

I'm sure the prospect of free libations could be enough motivation. It ain't exactly rocket science.
