Top Banana closing soon for the season

Posted by Geeky Swedes on November 11th, 2008

Ballard’s popular fruit and produce stand, Top Banana, is expected to close for the season sometime this week. Like every year, it will soon be replaced by a Christmas tree lot by the same owner, Jimmy Wild.

Keep an eye out for signs in front of Top Banana (along 65th St. at 15th Ave.) announcing the stand’s final day and any last-minute discounts. The remaining inventory will be donated to the Ballard Food Bank.

Update: Signs outside Top Banana say you get now get 25% off.

I live very close by and they said they will NOT be open this Friday (14th)... :-(
Get in tomorrow if its not too late!

they used to close for even longer during the winter...5 or 6 years ago

I don't think business is as brisk for them in the winter. I know that a few years a go Jimmy told us that they were staying open later in the winter some years when money was tight.

visit them before they close and ask them for us candice.
  • candice.
Why do they close for so long?! There's plenty of other produce stands that stay open year round... none that are anywhere NEAR Ballard though.

    That's lame.

Definitely agree with their return in March. We've just started hitting this up as part of weekly grocery shopping and love the place.

I hate when they close. Our produce consumption drops significantly without the convenience of a place to pick up last minute items. It also means I'll have to walk all the way down to Ballard Market when my daughter needs milk.

But yay for a nice smelling Christmas wreath! We'll be patiently awaiting their return March-ish.
