Fire crews responded to 54th and Leary just before midnight for a fire alarm inside the new Canal Street condos.

“Someone burned popcorn in a second floor unit,” wrote My Ballard reader Dan, who sent us the photo. “They didn’t even make a new batch to share with all the folks, dogs, cats, kids huddling in the doorways on the sidewalk.”
