ATM stolen from Lockspot Cafe

Posted by Geeky Swedes on December 26th, 2008

Ballard Gossip Girl said she heard the Lockspot was burglarized, and sure enough, we checked and they said their ATM was stolen two weekends ago.

It was located a few feet from the front door, and the burglars pried open the door and dragged it right through. A few days ago, Cafe Besalu was burglarized as well, their front door pried open, too. Police told Cafe Besalu that they’re investigating a string of similar burglaries in the area.

Late in the evening on Dec. 22, the Loyal Heights Community Center was broken into (the weight room sustained two broken windows) and the center was tagged with graffiti. Apparently, nothing was stolen, except more of our sense of safety in our neighborhood. It's really concerning, since two shootings in the CD and the south end occurred recently at community centers.

Have homes been getting broken into as well?

I am surprised that those ATMs aren't equipped with tracking devices, paint bombs, etc. Or maybe they are -- I certainly hope so.
