CitySearch.com: “Their entire menu is delicious and unique, featuring non-traditional touches like marinated bell peppers on the house salad. (Which is one of the best salads I’ve ever had.) Their pizzas are made with flavorful sauces, and are cooked to perfection.”

I dont mind this place, so its a little quiet at times, but they have a good happy hour. not a bad place to escape the crowds.

Tried their pizza and calimari recently. It's like a war crime in your mouth.
  • Bleh. Most overcooked, flavorless pasta I've ever been served. Avoid.

let's see... how can I describe this place.... ummmmm SUCKS
  • Jahmez
It was what it was, mediocre.

this place is bad... just plain bad.
  • jezbian
it really is just horrid. the only reason it can still be around is if it's a front.

Worse steak I have ever had and the service sucked. I didn't finish my food so the waitress asked me if there was something wrong with the food. I explained that it was mostly grissle and not well done as I ordered -- I'm pregnant and cannot eat rare meat. She just shrugged and brought me my bill! No offer of a replacement or a discount. Nothing! Ill never eat there again.

I had delivery pizza and calmari from here last night. It was supposedly a "wood fired" pizza. The pizza was horrible, mushy crust, luke warm temperature, uncooked toppings. The squid was like some pre-breaded, frozen mess. Will not ever order from them again. Also when I called up to complain, the Manager was very dismissive and wondered if I had ever had wood fired pizza before! Wood fired or not, this was one substandard pie.

Wow, did the person who wrote the CitySearch blurb get paid to say those nice things? Because I have to agree with all of the negative comments: Inexcusably slow service, mediocre food, not worth revisiting.
  • ExiledBrit
Oh my! Worst pizza since Britain (and we are known to deep fry the frozen ones).

Greasy, and was that american cheese on my 4 cheese pizza? Why yes, I think it was...

    Miss the MSG burger...

I SOOO have to agree with you... the $10 Kobe at Market Street Grill was the best thing around. And oh, remember the fries??? Ahhh sigh.

Uff Da! The meal we had here was pretty bad. The entrees tasted like they could have been frozen. Our drinks didn't taste right. We were the only people other than the person sitting at the bar reading a newspaper, the bus person and the waitress. With so many other great restaurants in Ballard I won't go back.

In regards to wag's comment, I agree!!! We had a truly great restaurant in Market Street Grill. Ballard just wouldn't give it enough support. I hear people complain about quality and price, in MSG we had both!!!
  • wags
Oh....where have you gone Market Street Grill?? Need I say more??
  • jezbian
indeed i have given this place two separate tries - no wonder my friend and i were the only ones dining there both times - the only other people were nursing drinks @ the bar.

the "wood fired pizzas" are made on "flatbread" - this point is not explained very well in the menu - which is boring and flavourless. the toppings were few and far in between, and not spread evenly over the pizza.

our servers (initially seated by the well-meaning woman with a strong accent, and then a guy who seemed to forget about us and so she had to take up the job again) were slow - the guy even seemed to be having his own dinner at a table and was NOT attentive to us at all.

this place is going nowhere fast - and the new sign/name/management has done nothing to improve it.

oh - one more thing - we ordered the "bruschetta" appetizer which promised that it would come with "crostini" bread pieces - it was brought with the same flavourless flatbread, cut into wedges. and not enough of the bread was brought for the amount of tomatoes/etc that was on the platter.

ballard has more than its fair share of GOOD pizza places (veraci, snoose junction, pomodoro, etc etc etc) - do yourself(ves) a favour and go to one of those, don't waste your time and money here.

    the worst
  • Swede'N'Need
Not good! Was brought the wrong dinner item, the wrong drink and an incorrect bill. Pasta lacked flavor and the service was sub-par. The only plus was it was inexpensive. (However still not wort the trip)
  • ChrisH
I agree-sucks...slow service-well meaning but ineffectual waitstaff and really pizza that is sub par-
  • BallardBilge
SUCKS !! I mean real bad. This is a Romio's in disguise.
