Golden Gardens Drive is now open

Posted by Geeky Swedes on January 16th, 2009

After being closed for more than a year, Golden Gardens Drive opened today.

Record rainfall in December of 2007 caused a portion of Golden Gardens Drive to collapse, leaving the road impassable. During its closure, the only route to Golden Gardens Park was on Seaview Avenue. We took this picture last week after construction crews repaved the roadway and installed a new guardrail. Crews also built a retaining wall and replanted the hillside. Final touches, like bicycle markings and signage will be added this spring.

Looks like someone in the neighborhood isn't happy about the change. Though the state covered up the "Road Closed" sign at the top of the hill, someone tore off the plastic. I guess they want to keep the road for themselves ;)

Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone. It's been nice and quiet over there.
Well, maybe now the police can patrol through there and catch the kids who keep tagging the bathrooms with the absolute worst grafitti.
  • You drove all the way down to market st Kevin?

Not looking forward to the added "boom boom" of summertime stereos, but it is nice to have a circuitous route again.
