Free tax help at the library

Posted by Geeky Swedes on January 23rd, 2009

Filling out those tax forms can be frustrating and a bit daunting. The United Way of King County, AARP and the Seattle Public Library are teaming up to offer free tax preparation service. Trained volunteers will be at the Ballard branch from February 2nd through April 13th to answer questions and help prepare personal tax returns. The service is not available for business tax returns. Appointments are available on Mondays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3:15 a.m. Call the library (206-684-4089) to set up an appointment. (Photo by LaughingSquid.)

Love you Ballard bloggers. The Queen Anne folks aren't nearly as tech savvy or creative with their commentary.

As a librarian I say thank you. Sometimes we feel sorry for us too.

Why not cut through all the crap and simply have a "flat tax" and get it over with? Seems to me much like tobacco, our current tax system is dumb/outdated and in need of going away. Does anybody feel good about doing their taxes? This as opposed to doing "simple math" and doing this on a postcard. Bam. Done. Would CPA's become unemployed? Too bad. Problem is government loves this mess too. The big shell game in life. Let's see here, I'm gonna pay somebody $75.00 to get $100 back? Or no doubt to pay this year? Lawyers, guns, money!

I just read on a library website that 80-90% of the "patrons" at the downtown library are homeless people.

I went down there to do some research and it was unbelievable! The smell alone would stun an ox.

I really feel sorry for the librarians.
  • oops, bad me, that is just the other side of the library. Think before you (I) speak...
  • Nice picture, but that is the neighborhood service center, technically....

Great photo! Dramatic emphasis of the roof overhang, while catching some reflected light off the galvanized shingles...very nice.

Sorry for the off topic comment.
