Icy snow blankets area, school start delayed

Posted by Dale on February 9th, 2009

A thin layer of crunchy, compact snow and ice is covering the area, especially East Ballard, Sunset Hill and Crown Hill.

Seattle Public Schools are running two hours late, there’s no kindergarten, Head Start or door-to-door programs today as well.

6:32 a.m. update: If you’re a Microsoftie, or otherwise heading to work on the Eastside, 520 across Lake Washington is closed due to accidents in BOTH directions. Check your traffic before you head into work today (as of 6:50 a.m., one eastbound lane is open, but traffic is very backed up).

Some Metro bus routes are on snow routes, but none are reported in our area so far. Despite that, Metro warns service could be slowed.

I'm guessing Goofy doesn't have any kids.

I always whine about freaking whiners on blogs. Besides, we all know if Obama farts its a 90-minute delay. Idiot.

Living up to your name, huh Goof?

Parents/kids have nothing to do with whether school is open, closed or late.
In fact, most parents seem to get rather irate when school is closed or late because it is an inconvenience. We don't care at our house because we are super flexible.

    Goofy,

Wait, where's the site where the parents and kids get to vote about whether to delay school?

    What a whiner.

It's the buses that the School District is worried about!! Would'nt YOU!!

Goofy, is it really the parents/kids fault? or is it the seattle city schools fault?

i don't think the parents or kids have anything to do with these kind of decisions.

I live in everett, what a beautiful snowfall. Lots of ice on the roads, very slick! Schools on time. No problems here.

There's still full day kindergarten. The website is confusing with the a.m./ p.m. stuff, but they only mean half day.

What's with todays parents/kids? If Obama farts do we make it a 2 hour delay too? I thought this was a joke at first. Yup, we're certainly teaching our little skulls full of mush just how to work things, aren't we. WTF are we all gonna do when something BIG happens? Put life on a 3 hour delay? Freaking whiners
