Naked man arrested outside Whittier Elementary

Posted by Geeky Swedes on February 18th, 2009

Seattle Police arrested a naked man sitting in his pickup truck outside Whittier Elementary on Monday, said The Stranger, quoting a police report. The man had “various pornographic material” next to him with “approximately 10 children” in view, police say. The school is currently in winter break, but it’s also home to a childcare program. (Thanks Kurt for the link.)

The article in the Stranger is inaccurate. This man has not been arrested and Seattle Police do not have enough information to charge him.

I just spoke with the detective in charge of this investigation. This incident occurred on Sunday, 2/15 around 5 pm, not on President's Day. A neighbor called the police to report a suspicious vehicle but did not observe his behavior. He was not arrested. Police cannot press charges against him unless he was seen naked by a civilian (not a police officer) and that civilian was shocked or alarmed. Did any civilians see this man? If so, please call Detective Tony Stevenson at Seattle Police at 206-684-5576 or e-mail anthony.stevenson@seattle.gov with information. As it stands right now, there is no case against this person.

Now that's the Ballard I remember. I think we even had a 'man in a red van' back in the 80's.

Anon: Send them all to Pedif Isle. Sorry, I have to give Adam Carolla credit/blame for that one.

i can't think of any reason a naked man would be at a school!

I can really think of no good reason for a naked man to be on school grounds w/ "materials".

That pretty much breaks every rule of decent behavior.

it sounds like they are 2 different losers. maybe you could discuss it in detail with the Principal?...your worries are certainly valid and 3 months is way too long to wait if there is going to be any action taken.

it is also too long to have a creep like this out there looking for the kids without the parents knowing.

The daycare was closed on Monday for Presidents Day, but they have been open all week.

I'm still angry that the principal didn't notify parents sooner that there was a sex offender hanging around. She waited almost 3 months to notify parents when that guy in the red truck was hanging around.

I'm hoping that this is the same guy and that he's now off the streets. I have two kids at Whittier and this has been worrying me for months that this guy is still out there.

If he is that DD I hope he doesn't drive.

Oh, different men. The other creepster was 48 years old from Lynnwood. This creepster is 4o years old and from Shoreline.

Note that they released the masturbating creepster "to his mother." I really, *really* hope that he is some sort of very developmentally disabled, as that is the only possible reason I can think of for not hauling him to jail

great idea, you get his feet and i will get his head, (well not really) and we will throw him as far as we can!

Does anyone know if this was the same convicted sex offender from Lynnwood who was spotted around Whittier a few months back, watching kids from his red van?

I'm hoping it's the same guy, because otherwise that only can mean that there have been at least TWO sick pervs watching kids on the playground.

Good thing he wasn't riding a bike! What does a person do if they happen upon a schpud like this before the popo does? Bailiff, wack his pee pee.

He's probably from Fremont. Was he wearing full body paint?

Time for a check point on Leary, keep the 'quirky' people over that side please.
  • silence.kit
Why can't we just throw him off a bridge?

OMG, this was happening right out in front of my house. I am really glad I was not home at the time because as a protective father I would have introduced him to a couple of my favorite softball bats. Not enough is being done to keep these sicko's out of our neighborhoods.
  • Qualisha
They need to cut his balls off.

    WTF?? people are sick!
  • Elttaes
Maybe if the police were doing something other than pulling me over for 30mins for having classic plates we could get a few more actual patrols happening.

"on an island together with no way off!"

LOL....I think they have the getting off covered.

oh... this upsets me... I'm a mom of two young kiddos at a different elem. school (not that that matters), but why? Why do people do this? It's gross & disturbing, let alone MANY other things, too many to list.

Last summer I left Northgate Mall (the ONE time I went there last year), walked back to my car, and spotted a man in his van (not white, blue! But still a creepy van with a table saw in the passenger seat), jacking off with his penis clearly visible through his open window. He had pushed his seat back so I couldn't see his face, but I sadly HAD to see his other part!

I say HAD, because he clearly wanted me to see what he was doing!!! I went to my car, happened to see a security car just drive by, I ran him down, pointed to the van, and he confronted him. I was so disturbed by what I saw, that I did not stick around to see what happened. I just wanted to go home.

As I thought about that moment (it actually took weeks for me to get that out of my head), I remember seeing quite a few teenager girls hanging around the entrance to the mall. I just thank God that I did not have one of my kids with me. And hope that no other people had to see that.

Ugh... these are the people that need to be put on an island together with no way off!
