I have been watching Seagle with all his bird friends; two Canadian geese, crows and a Mallard duck couple who would float around near Seagle. I am so saddened by this. I am speechless. Theres a whole lot of ugly in this world, but at least we were graced by such a beauty and warm-fuzzyfor a minute…

Thanks for all the kind comments and sharing in the fun. The Seagle and its story was a tribute to my Swedish ancestors who would have enjoyed it. The characters in the press release were family members. My great uncle, Johan Elmer Walhberg's birthday was April 1 st. He was an inventive and creative person who would have laughed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the Seagle's name to your favorite charity.
(Thankfully the eggs are safe!!!)

I'd noticed that someone broke off an ear (probably with a rock) a few weeks back. Was in anchored in the middle of the pond? I wonder if the wind didn't blow it to the edge.

Very sad to see this go but I was surprised that it lasted as long as it did, given human nature. Odds are this was kids — I don't think the addicts would waste their time.

didn't the person who put it there do so illegally to begin with?

how do we know this isn't part of the art? maybe the artist symbolically decapitated the scuplture to represent ballard's break with it's cultural past (and on may 17th)

I always get a kick out of the retards that vandalize and graffiti things. Id hope they would read these postings but they are undoubtedly illetirate. Since they can only “tag” there name. Its sad to think someone would do that, Maybe they needed to feel powerfull since they have no job, no girlfriends and just a trusty Sharpie.

It is worse than graffiti. Whoever did this sawed off the Seagle's head. It may not have been everyone's taste in art but it was inoffensive. To destroy something like that is just sad.

I saw that the Seagle wasn't visible yesterday and I thought it might show up in the parade today. I didn't take a close enough look to see that it had been vandalized. This is terrible. It's just like the graffiti. Well, worse really. But what is wrong with people????
