  1. Welcome to the hood! All the Best Pet Care is quite convenient for me, but I'll check out the new Mud Bay as well, I've shopped at the Greenwood and Capital Hill locations, they've got most everything covered, at fair prices, with decent folk too.

  2. Yay! I won't have to drive out to Greenwood anymore!

Why another pet store? Mud Bay has the food that my cats require. They are both on special diets and many pet stores don't carry what they need.

  3. do they have any food for fattening up my st barnard? i'm preparing a special dish for the next chinese new year, and want to make sure there's plenty to go around.

  4. I love Bark, but they don't take checks. Sorry, I don't always have enough cash on hand and I don't want to use my credit. And yeah, Mud Bay is a chain, but at least it's a local chain.

  5. I clicked on the Mud Bay link to see if they carried the brand of cat food our cats prefer. Turns out it was recalled TODAY, and Mud Bay had the information on their web site already. Also turns out that the new bag of cat food we picked up from a big box Petchain was included in the recall. One more turns out- When I called the store in Renton where we bought it, they had not heard, and still had it on the shelves. Looks like we have a new pet store!

  6. I agree.
The amount of Feline discrimination out there is deplorable. Why should I have to skulk around in the far back corner of the store when the drippy drooly mutts get primo front of the store locations?

Also, a dog bit me last weekend.

  7. Two great locally owned pet supply stores, yay! I do feel bummed for Bark, down on Ballard Avenue, and Petapolouza, in FreLard on N. 36th, however. I hope we will all continue to patronize the “little guys” with great personal service and really cool, unique stores, as well as the new guys in town. I know I will be going to all four, they all have their strengths! Now if only one of them would hire me….

  8. This sucks! This is another chain store like “All the Best”. They are not native to Ballard and are all over Seattle. I think we should all support local business here in Ballard and not chains like “All the Best”, Trader Joes, Mud Bay, Taco Time, Subway, etc.

I would also like to emphasize that I place posters and flyers for non profits throughout the Ballard area and most of these chains do not allow our flyers that serve very good local causes. This is not the case with true local Ballard businesses that bend over backwards to support the local Ballard community that supports them. For example, you will see an area that allows local entrepreneurs to place their business cards, and a bulletin board for events, etc. Again, you will not see this at chain stores in Ballard.

    Best regards,

    Rick
