The weekend events calendar

Last weekend was packed with events, this weekend looks to be much more low-key around Ballard.

  • There will be a benefit car wash on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Ballard Brothers Seafood & Burgers to raise money for the “Hoops for Hope” basketball tournament which raises money for victims of gun violence and their families. The “Global Youth Project” which is hosting the tournament is working through the Boys & Girls Club of Ballard.
  • From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday Patria Band will be performing at the Locks. Batucada Yemanja will be performing on Sunday.
  • More than 3,500 people are expected at Golden Gardens this Sunday for Tribal Journeys 2009. Tribal members in canoes from Washington and British Columbia will converge at Golden Gardens traditional activities.
  • The Magnolia SummerFest is this weekend. MagnoliaVoice has the rundown of events for kids and adults
  • We can’t ignore Seafair. This is the big hydro weekend on Lake Washington. KIRO will be televising the races and Blue Angel performances. Their broadcast schedule is here.
  • For live music, check out the calendars for the Tractor Tavern, Sunset Tavern, The Bit Saloon, High Dive, Conor Byrne, Egan’s Ballard Jam House and Nectar. As always, check out our events calendar. And if you have an event to add, just email us at tips@myballard.com.

    1. Well, Silver, that's up to what you think is fair, but I'd say 5-10 bucks.
I don't drive, but I dropped off a donation and picked up some fish and chips. The guys are ready to wash, no line when I was there.

    2. I did get my car washed by the Hoops for Hope kids today, and they did a great job. I'm all for supporting the Ballard Boys & Girl's Club- it's a very worthy cause.
