A Peruvian cafe is getting ready to open on 15th Ave NW and NW 57th St.
Named for the city in Peru, Cafe Cuzco will have espresso, pastries and possibly foods with Peruvian flair. We’re still waiting for more details from the owner but with the abundance of emails we’ve received on this new business, we wanted to share what we know. (Thank you everyone for the tip!)

Mrs. gurple stopped by this place the other day, hoping for a bite of cuy or maybe a piquillo relleno. They didn't have anything remotely Peruvian-inflected on offer (just coffee and tea, when she stopped in), but I guess they haven't fleshed out their full menu yet, so hopefully they'll set themselves apart when they start selling food.

I've eaten guinea pig in Peru. Tastes like chicken, with very little meat, but the skin was crunchy and flavorful.
I hope they will have empanadas…..mmmmm……I love empanadas.

Hubby and I wandered over there on Saturday. They weren't open but the owner, Dario, invited us in. He said he was planning to serve ceviche in the spring. Cold raw marinated seafood doesn't sound too appealing right now, but if next summer is anything like the last, I will be there consuming buckets of the stuff.

I kept seeing workers there for the last few months, wondering what was coming. When I saw them taking the painter's tape off the lights outside, I knew it was almost time.

Maybe some coca tea, cusquena beer, lomo saltado, quinoa salad, and yuca fries? Oh, and I think we have enough adventurers in Seattle that they'd sell a couple cuy a day.

I'm with you on the coca tea, but somehow I don't think they'll be taking that risk! They do, however, have Inca Cola, according to my wife. Stuff tastes like bubblegum to me, but who am I to judge?
