Weekend sale to help families at Christmas

This weekend is the 6th annual Don Jones Foundation rummage sale. To carry on the tradition of her father, Molly Overa is working to raise money to help families during the holidays. “When we were growing up my dad used to adopt a family every holiday and we would buy gifts and food for them and deliver it to them just before Christmas; he made sure we were involved and we looked forward to it each year. When my dad lost his battle with cancer in 2005, we felt the best way to continue his legacy was by creating the foundation,” Overa tells us.

A thank-you note from 6-year-old Emma for the presents provided by the Don Jones Foundation.

The rummage sale is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2624 NW 85th St. Up for grabs at the sale is furniture, a dishwasher, lots of books, a treadmill, surfboard, clothes and much more. All of the proceeds from this event stay here to support Seattle families, Overa tells us.

Overa says that they could use a few more hands setting up the sale. If you’d like to volunteer email donate@donjonesfoundation.org.
