Ballard sweet spot getting national attention

The small corner candy shop just off of Bergen Place is in the national spotlight.

Blackbird Candy Shoppe is written up in today’s USA Today. The article titled, “10 Great Candy Stores Across the USA,” says this about the shop:

Nicole Miller, the owner of one of the city’s finest men’s clothing stores, must have a sweet tooth. “She has taken her very, very particular and talented curatorial eye, and now she has put it on candy,” Wellman says. Come here for nostalgic treats like Sky Bars and surprises like gummy strawberries and salted caramels.

Other west coast stores mentioned in the article include Miette in San Francisco, Enchanté in Milwaukie, OR and Valerie Confections in Los Angeles.

    b. underwhelmingly patronized.
    c. like 9 months old.

  2. I like this place. It is an odd combination of cute and elegant. Foo you should check it out.

I don’t know how they sell enough candy to stay in business but I’m glad they’re there.
