Ballard’s annual sidewalk sale starts Thursday

Get ready for some good deals. Seattle’s oldest and largest sidewalk sale
starts on Thursday.

Photo from the 2009 sidewalk sale.
For the 45th year, many merchants along Ballard Ave and Market Street will set up bargain tables in front of their shops with discounted items. The sale starts Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., sale hours on Friday and Saturday are also
10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday’s sale will start at 11 a.m. and end at 6 p.m.

  1. Herein lies the problem with a chamber of commerce acting against the interests of the larger community…a lot of that community will stop supporting it and even when it does good things people will still bring up the bad thing it is doing.

  2. I think the definition of “the larger community” community has been beaten to death here.

People on both sides of the issue believe they are part of the larger community and nothing anyone says here is going to change their/our minds so lets not go there.

Lets just say “Yea, sunny weather and stuff on sale”

  3. Excuse me Walter but how is a poster named “PoopOnEm,” who hijacked the thread to disparage “spandex” and bikers not a “real troll” ?

I think the Chamber Trolls like gts206 and PoopOnEm officially outnumber the bike trail trolls these days…

I’m sure the bike trail trolls are “just kidding” as well but it’s gts206 who keeps insisting, incorrectly, that Chamber is not involved.

  4. HEY! I didn;t just post that.

I swore off saying its not the chambers lawsuit last weekend.

    Seriously that isn;t/wasn;t me.

    Although I do agree :)

  5. Pho:

I guess the vectored defecator might be a troll from a certain point of view, but I give her a pass because she’s usually just going for laughs. It’s the same reason Will Farrell takes his shirt off in movies: it may not be tasteful or even funny, but the motivation is satire, which is perhaps the noblest of motives for a forum like this.

As for the ratio of chamber trolls vs trail trolls, I wouldn’t know. Perhaps we should get Pew to fund a study.

  6. Pho,

You can’t expect crackpots like Walter, gts206, or Poop to make any logical sense.

Their hypocrisy (not to mention their spelling and punctuation) is for our amusement only.

Old Ballard Speaks. We Listen. And then Laugh. The old timers are pretty cute if you really think about it.

  7. Amused:

Are you Old Ballard or do you think we’re Old Ballard? I’m confused. Let’s try that again with correct punctuation.

  8. I was on the side of “let’s all get along” no mentioning of the you know what and you know who – someone hijacked my name on post #9.

And sorry for the semi colons where apostrophes belong. My nails are wet, and I was so surprised by someone posting under my name I just started typing!

  9. Amused, thanks for the Cybil like postings. They are entertaining. Completely void of any factual based information, but still entertaining.

  10. “Remember to support local Chamber businesses in their ban on spandex-clad whining. Doing otherwise is unamerican!”

    how’s your stolen cat, thief?!?

  11. I made an extra effort to get to Ballard by 6 yesterday thinking I would have an hour to shop and a lot of the merchants had already pulled in their tables. Would it have been such a burden to stay involved for one more hour of this event until the posted end time?
