Dog missing after going overboard in the Ship Canal

A Silverdale couple is hoping their 18-month-old American Eskimo named “Dimitri” made it to shore after the dog got out of its harness and went into the water on the east side of the Ballard Locks Sunday afternoon.

“He was like my kid,” Danae Clarke told our news partners, the Seattle Times. “I’m freaking out. I just turned my back for a split second.” She tells the Times that the dog can swim and doesn’t have his tag because the harness came off.

The Times has a photo of the dog and contact information if you find Dimitri. (Thanks Ballard Dad for posting this in the forum!)

  1. If there is a resolution to this please update… Also, did they see the dog in the water? Did they see it swimming towards the Ballard or Magnolia sides? Any other details that might help?

  2. Agreed — would greatly appreciate an update if anything happens. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out and alert my Ballard friends. Best of luck to the owner searching for her dog.
