Happy ending for dog missing in Ship Canal

Earlier this week we wrote about Dimitri, the 18-month-old American Eskimo who ended up in the ship canal on Sunday. His owners Danae Clarke and Michael Brewster say the dog got out of his harness while riding in their boat and ended up in the water just east of the Ballard Locks.

This morning we spoke with Brewster who tells us that Dimitri is back home. Someone on the Magnolia side of the water spotted the all-white dog sitting on the back of his boat near the Ballard Bridge and contacted the owners. (Thanks Alonzo Neighbor for posting the update in the forum!)

  1. yay. :)

It reminded me of when my dog would ” accidentally” bounce her tennis ball ( off the top of her head)into the Sammamish Slough so she could have an excuse to jump in.

Had to keep her away from the canal for that reason
( but then she is a lab)

  2. I am so happy that this story had a very, very happy ending. My prayers were answered. Such a cute dog and a hardy, little survivor.

  3. @Philly mom. Yes, that is the most logical reason for the dog being found. Your prayers. Not the kind person who reported finding him, not the Ballard community but you’re direct connection with the creator of the entire universe. He stopped what he was doing to respond to directly to you. Thank you for pulling some strings on this one!

  4. Dear Oh Dear,

What the heck is wrong with you??!! Good thoughts, regardless of the source, is the most important thing. Can’t be much fun living in your head…
