It’s hard work to be a parent. Starting on day one, each day brings a new dilemma. Ballardite Kerry Colburn wants to help parents stay sane as they wade through life with kids. Mama’s Big Book of Little Lifesavers has nearly 400 tips for parents from many of those dilemmas such as potty training, bedtime routines and getting baby to sleep.

On Thursday evening at 7 o’clock, Secret Garden Books (2214 NW Market St) is hosting a family-friendly event for Colburn’s new book. “Folks can ave a cupcake, browse, and grab the book as a last-minute Mom’s Day gift!” Colburn tells us.

This isn’t Colburn’s first book. A year ago she and her husband released How to Have Your Second Child First, a book for first-time parents.
