Tree snapped in half in downtown Ballard

The tree in front of BalMar at the intersection of Ballard Ave NW and NW Market has been snapped in half with the trunk still in the ground and the foliage tossed aside.

Does anyone know what happened? We haven’t been able to track down any info. (Thanks David for the tip & @ajrogers for Tweeting us the pic)

  1. I like the way you think, Ron Schott.  Big things are in the future for a thinker like you.  Your deductive reasoning skills do nothing more than amaze me.

  2. This is sad. That tree was planted in memory of the owner of Scandies, the restaurant that India Bistro moved into after Tom died.

  4. Not surprised…have seen young thuglets hanging from tree branches before. Monkey see, monkey do. They don’t have any respect for public or other people’s property. It was just a matter of time before the tree branches snapped and broke off. Sad…

  5. I can donate a tree. I have a few options as I am a gardener and have access. Let me know. I remember Scandies open faced sandwiches. Poor tree.
