Ballard Bridge painting – expect closures

The middle section of the Ballard Bridge is getting a new coat of paint. Starting this month, a contractor for the Seattle Department of Transportation will begin painting the “bascule” portion of the bridge – the middle part that is raised for boats.

There will be nighttime closures of the Ballard Bridge over four weekends, as well as occasional lane closures. During the full nighttime closures, vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic will not be allowed across the bridge. We will post notices before the closures happen.

The approaches at each end of the bridge were painted last year. This current project is expected to be completed by February 2012.
