East Ballard project getting national attention

A small bioswale project on 14th Ave NW is getting big attention with the Environmental Protection Agency.

The EPA is working to reduce stormwater runoff and is looking at case studies around the country. “Jennifer Britton, formerly from SDOT and now Assistant Professor at Montana State University, submitted a case study for our bioswale and pedestrian safety improvement project at 14th Ave NW and NW 58th to ASLA for consideration,” Dawn Hemminger writes on the East Ballard Community Association website. “We just learned today that our project was selected as one of 479 case studies from 43 states, the District of Columbia, and Canada!” You can see the 14th Ave case study here (.pdf.)
