Ballard barista donating tips to Youth in Focus

Posted by Geeky Swedes on October 5th, 2011

When you walk into Espresso Picolinos (6415 32nd Ave NW) on Sunset Hill, you’re often greeted with a smile by Sarah Lemm. She is a barista at the neighborhood coffee joint and is also a mentor with Youth in Focus.

The local non-profit is an “afterschool program that uses intensive photography training as a tool to help disadvantaged teens develop personal voice, positive identity, social skills and artistic skills,” their website states. Lemm went to Youth in Focus as a student and says, “I never did the fundraiser while I was there, so I thought I would help them out now.”

During the month of October, Lemm is donating all of her cash tips to Youth in Focus. She generally has Tuesdays and Thursdays off. (Disclosure: Picolinos is a sponsor of MyBallard.)
