Cool time-lapse video of the 520 pontoon through the Ballard Locks

The cameras were rolling as crews maneuvered the first pontoon for the new SR 520 floating bridge through the Ballard Locks on Saturday.

This cool time-lapse video put together by the Washington State Department of Transportation shows the 45-minute journey through the Locks in just more than a minute. This is the first of 77 pontoons to come through the Locks, the second will be coming through sometime Monday (WSDOT will update us with a time frame). The pontoon measures 360 feet long, 75 feet wide, 30 feet high and weighs 11,000 tons and barely fit through the Locks. More information on the 520 bridge project can be found here.
