Learn to refurbish and distress furniture this weekend at the RE Store

If you’ve always wanted to turn your old dresser, kitchen table, or end-table into a piece of art, here’s your chance: the RE Store is holding a furniture refurbishing and distressing workshop on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon. “For nearly nothing you can transform and reinvent old tired pieces of furniture into ‘French Rustic,'” writes Bray Hayden from the RE store. “Learn to add charm, character and age to any item made of wood, i.e. furniture, cabinets, accessories, medallions, mantles and trim work.”

There will be a complete start-t0-finish demonstration, which will include instructions on how to prepare, paint and distress using several techniques, finishing with waxes. They’ll then assist you in painting and distressing your small piece.

From Hayden:

We provide all of the tools, materials, brushes, paint – you simply show up in comfy paint clothes and bring a small piece of wood furniture that you can carry by yourself, for example a dinning chair, small table, picture frame, lamp base etc… and we will provide the rest! Reclaimed paint will also be demonstrated. You will take home your own piece of gorgeous furniture and the knowledge and ability to create new finishes or update old ones yourself.

The cost for the workshop is $10, which includes a $5 coupon to use in the store.  To register, or for more information contact Bray at brayh@re-store.org
