Update:

We have just received an update from Salmon Bay School Principal Jen. Crossing guard Des is doing well and has been sent home from hospital after being hit by a vehicle outside the school on Monday.

“The outpouring of care and support from the community has been inspiring” wrote Principal Jen. The school has received many gifts sent by the community to wish Des a full recovery. If you are interested in sending something please stop by the school’s main office and staff will ensure that it is passed on to him.

Original Post:

Seattle Police and Fire Departments confirmed that a vehicle on pedestrian incident occurred this afternoon outside Salmon Bay School.

SPD received a call at 2:35pm to respond to a male crossing guard, in his fifties, who had been hit by a vehicle. The incident occurred at the crossing on NW 65th St and NW 18th St. Fire department spokesman Kyle Moore said that the man was “alert and oriented and talking” when medics arrived.

The man received minor head injuries and was transported by the SFD to Harborview Medical Centre. He remains there and is reported to be in a stable condition.
