This Sunday February 17th a “Walk Against Coal Trains” rally has been organized at Golden Gardens. The rally will begin at 11:30 a.m. in one of the two shelters in the northern area of the park and will be easy to spot with a display of red balloons.

The rally will include 30 minutes of information from speakers including Mayor McGinn. Robin Everett from the Sierra Club is reaching out to organizer speakers for the event. Everett is the appointed RSVP contact point for the event and has reported that over 200 people will be attending.

At 12 noon the rally will march along the Burke Gilman trail to meet at Ray’s Boathouse. Everyone is welcome to attend and are encouraged to bring “no coal train” signs, wear red and bring noisemakers.

The event is planned for Sunday to coincide with the Sierra Club’s 350.org Forward on Climate rally being held on February 17th in Washington DC.
