Is crime on the increase around Market St?

Posted by Danielle Anthony-Goodwin on March 5th, 2013

We have received a number of emails from readers this week regarding the escalation of criminal activity close to Market St.

Reader Anna Paul contacted My Ballard to report that her car had been stolen and that her neighbors had been broken into in the Market Street area last night. “Please call 911 if you witness anything fishy going on around you. I hate the though of Ballard going downhill because of a few bad seed,” she wrote.

Reader Ruth Gronvold also emailed reporting the presence of a dozen empty police cars parked near the Market Street end of Leary Way. According to Gonvold, “the cars were empty and parked in front of Ballard Landmark at approximately 7:30 p.m. last night.”

We have contacted SPD to get more information on both incidents and will update readers as soon as possible.

If you notice criminal activity in Ballard call SPD North Precinct at (206) 684 – 0850. If it is an emergency call 911.
