Find Waldo in Ballard this July

Picture 4

Starting today and throughout July locals will have the chance to find our favorite mysterious friend Waldo lurking around some Ballard stores.

Ballardites can spot the famous children’s book character in 22 local stores and have the chance to win some great prizes. From Cupcake Royale to Sonic Boom, from Ballard Blossom to Market Street Shoes, Waldo figures will be lurking, hidden in the shadows.

To take part in the fun simply pick up your “Find Waldo Local in Ballard!” passport that includes the names of all participating stores. When you visit each store make sure to get your passport signed or stamped for each Waldo that you spot. The first 100 Waldo seekers to get their passports stamped or signed at ten or more sites can bring their passports to Secret Garden Bookshop (2214 NW Market St) to claim their prize. Serious seekers who have their passports stamped or signed at more than twenty locations will have the chance to enter the grand prize drawing on July 31, with the top prize being a 6-volume deluxe set of Waldo Books.

Where’s Waldo was created by Martin Handford who took the world by storm with his drawings in 1987. Since they were first published the Where’s Waldo books have held a special place in the heart of many all over the world. There are currently over 58 million books in print worldwide that have been translated into eighteen languages.

To celebrate Waldo’s popularity, Americans all over the country will be hunting for Waldo in their local bookstores throughout July.

All are welcome to participate and cost is free.
