The folks at Ballard Kayak are all set to host a Paddle, Pedal and Pour tour this Thursday, July 18. The business was started by Ballard couple Becca and John Guillote and opened earlier this year renting kayaks to locals on the beach at Golden Gardens (8498 Seaview Pl NW).

Thursday’s fusion tour is set to please as participants paddle and pedal their way through Ballard. The tour starts in the beautiful seascape of the Puget Sound on a relaxed paddle through Salmon Bay. From there, tour goers will join the bustle at the Ballard Locks and ride up the “water elevator” in a kayak. Once in the canal, we will paddle by mega-yachts, the Deadliest Catch fleet (when they are in port), and some of Seattle’s extensive fishing fleet.

Participants will then swap their paddles for some pedals on the famous Cycle Saloon. The tour guide will lead the pedaling participants on a tour through the streets of historic Ballard while on the 16-seater “bike”. While pedaling away on the Cycle Saloon tour goers can enjoy a Ballard brewed cold beer and feast on some delicious snacks as they make their way back to Golden Gardens.

cycle saloonThe tour costs $75 per person and will last from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Participants are asked to meet at the Ballard Kayak rental tent at Golden Gardens at 4:40 p.m. Beginner paddlers (and pedal-ers) welcome.
