Tantalizing Ta’ase tosses five TDs, terrorizing Bulldogs

The Garfield High School Bulldogs hosted the Ballard High School Beavers for their homecoming game Friday night at Memorial Stadium.  And for the second week in a row the Beavers spoiled another school’s homecoming.  Ballard, led by junior Jacob Ta’ase’s five touchdown passes beat Garfield 40 to 7.  Ta’ase had strikes of 24, 27, 18, 15 and 32 yards completing 11 of 19 passes for 180 yards.  Seniors Max Marshall caught two of the touchdown passes, Siddique Newkirk caught two, and Asher Clasen caught one.  Newkirk led all receivers with 70 yards on 4 catches.  Junior Shea Carroll led the Beavers in rushing with 28 yards.

Ballard’s defense was led once again by senior Elliot Brockl who had 12 tackles.  Marshall contributed 9 tackles.  Junior Adam Deehring had his best game of the season with 7 tackles including four for a loss.  And for the second game in a row the defense had a “pick six” as senior Byron White took an interception back 69 yards for the score.  White also contributed 5 tackles including two tackles for a loss.

The Beavers, now 2-2 (1-0 in conference) continue Kingco play traveling to Newport (3-1 overall, 0-1 in conference) Friday night.
